Canada’s Housing Market Rebounds: Increased Sales in Southern Ontario

The Globe and Mail is reporting a strong April rebound in Canada’s housing market , with increased sales and soaring home prices in parts of Southern Ontario. The national home price index rose by 1.6% from March to April, marking the second consecutive monthly increase following a year-long slump.

The market turnaround has been fueled by prospective homebuyers returning to the market after the Bank of Canada paused its interest-rate hiking plan. However, low inventory levels have persisted. Competition and multiple offers have resurfaced in the Toronto region and nearby cities, driving up prices.
